Q: Who speaks at OpenSource World/NGDC/CloudWorld?
A: OpenSource World, NGDC and CloudWorld will host a variety of speakers including consultants, industry experts, authors, writers, product engineers and power users.

Q: What are the responsibilities of an OpenSource World/NGDC/CloudWorld speaker?
A: ALL speakers MUST turn in the required presentation materials. In creating presentations, speakers must follow a set of guidelines provided by conference management. The OpenSource World/NGDC/CloudWorld conference program is not an opportunity to use canned marketing pitches. It is an opportunity to address substantive issues in a proactive manner. Vendors should not regard a speaking position at OpenSource World/NGDC/CloudWorld as a marketing opportunity, but rather a chance to show leadership, to describe their strategic plans and directions, and to make significant industry announcements.

Q: How does one apply for a speaking position at OpenSource World/NGDC/CloudWorld?
A: Approximately six to seven months prior to the event, the speaker proposal form is available on the event web site. Guidelines and instructions are listed for how to submit the form. All forms must be submitted online, and follow the posted guidelines. These submissions are then reviewed by our program committee and the best ones are selected.

Q: When are selected speakers notified?
A: OpenSource World/NGDC/CloudWorld conference management will begin notifying speakers via email approximately four months prior to the event. The confirmation email will include a detailed list of instructions regarding presentation guidelines and other logistic considerations that are designed to help speakers ensure a successful speaking engagement.

Q: Why are panel discussions limited to four participants total?
A: Panel discussions are limited to four total participants, including the moderator, to ensure that each participant has adequate time to contribute to the discussion and address the needs of the audience.

Q: Why do speakers and panelists have to be confirmed by the date set by conference management?
A: All speakers and panelists are subject to approval and must be confirmed by the date set by conference management. This helps ensure adequate marketing exposure for them and the session, their inclusion on the Web site, in the on-site printed conference materials. Also, this ensures that all conference faculty members have adequate time to review the logistical information regarding their speaking engagement so they are well prepared when they arrive onsite.

Q: What is the speaker office?
A: The speaker office on-site is designed to give you a chance to prepare for your sessions, rest and relax throughout the week, and collaborate with other speakers. It is for this reason that the speaker office only allows access to speakers. If you would like to meet with your guests, or other colleagues at the show, please meet with them in the conference attendee lounge. Any belongings left unattended and unidentified in the speaker office may be subject to search.

Q: Do I need to register to attend OpenSource World/NGDC/CloudWorld if I am a speaker?
A: As a speaker, you do not need to register yourself for the event. All confirmed speakers are automatically registered for the event. You will be able to pick up your complimentary badge in the speaker office. Your badge will allow you access to the conference sessions, keynotes, feature presentations and the solutions showcase.

Q: Why can't my colleague/friend/spouse/child join me in the speaker office?
A: While we understand that colleagues, friends, spouses and children may join you at the event they can be a distraction for other speakers preparing for their presentations. If you wish to meet and relax with them, we request that you accompany them to the conference attendee lounge.
